Default new to gas carts with a clutch issue.

As a lot of you know, I just got my first gas cart...a 94' G9.

This cart has a clone 420cc motor in it using the stock yamaha clutch. The belt doesn't come to the top of the drive clutch, maybe 1/2 inch below, and this is at full throttle. I'll let off the gas for a second and hit the gas again and the belt is much lower now and then the clutch opens up and the belt falls to the bottom even while at full throttle.

Like I said, this is my first gasser so I need direction as to what to look for.

Thanks.

The guy that sold it to must have had to stiff of a spring in the secondary. if you put a not so stiff sping in, it will work a lot better but you wont be able to climb hills as well.

There's also some serious grooves on the helix ramps on the secondary.

But what would make the drive clutch come back open when the throttle is pressed?

Mine drops to the bottom also as soon as i let off the throttle. The grooves are on your clutch plate and im going to say it about 19 years old. When you get a Plowmans set up it will come with brand new sheaves. I caqn try and do a video on my phone and send it to you so you can see whaqt mine does.

I got the video Tom. On mine it drops also, but when I give it throttle again it only comes half way up on the sheaves and while the throttle is still pressed the clutch opens and the belt falls to the bottom.

I need to try and video it and send it to you.

And the grooves I'm talking about are on the helix. The clutch plates are smooth.

I think I figured out why the belt wouldn't come to the top of the clutch. The bearing cap must have came loose from the rod and it wasn't getting enough rpm to spin the clutch like it should.

Was about to take a video of it and send it to Tom and KABLUWEE... it blew a hole in the block big enough to drop a softball in.

And here are a few of the pieces I was able to find.
