Fiberglass fender flares ?
Any of you "gearheads" know where I can get ahold of some fiberglass fender flares ? Like the ones on 60's and 70's trans am race cars? (like camaros/mustangs or vettes) I've seen some 2" er's but they "round looking" I am more interested in a 2 or 3 inch that take the flare farther "up" the body panel. Thanks Dave

I don't know of anything like that. Maybe you could find a body kit for a car and cut them down / trim them up?

Re: Fiberglass fender flares ?
Well after my last comment......I hope we'll still keep in touch! If my head was as smart as your ***, I could do this. I looked at the body lines of the G8 body again today and realized.....You were telling me it could be done, just not how. The G8 bodies are "Metton" (like watercraft are made of) and I would think it's a perfect fit for a die grinder/pulling down to the shape I want and fiberglassing. Would recommend from the outside or from underneath ? Your help and suggestions have always helped me and I hope you feel the same with mine! Later my freind. Dave

Re: Fiberglass fender flares ?
Where did I got wrong? I am totaly lost in all this. Die grinder? G8 bodies? (I can only hope you are refering to bodies of the female gender when you are saying great aka G.
Seriously...(want a bet) Die grinder or airsaw to cut the existing finders out as far as you can go in all three directions. Put the tires and spacers on that you want to run, and build out and around theym to create your flares. You might even be able to use the old wheel opening as a patern to cut your new ones, just switch side to side so they will lay flat. Bending the fiberglass from the body around the tires and back to the body is the trickiest part. There is a secret for that. OK time for me to go to bed. |
