1978 Marathon Barn Find
Lando here....this is my first cart. I took it sight unseen as a "gift" from my uncle. He told me it was a late 80s early 90s. I think it is a 1978 Marathon. It hasn't run in 3-5 years, seat are bad, tires are bad, it's all bad. I think I will see if it runs then decide how much I want to spend, as used carts around KC can be had for around $2000 about 15 years newer.

Re: 1978 Marathon Barn Find
Weather was nice in KC this weekend and so WE Begin....Changed the fuel lines, removed battery, removed the gas tank. New fuel filter , air filter and spark plug. Fogged the cylinder. Used carb cleaner on carb.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to clean the fuel tank? Lots of sludge in there. I emptied it and been rinsing with fresh gas, sloshing it around with nails. Compression test this week when the new battery goes in. |

You can power-wash it,then put about a cup or so of gas in it,slosh it around and drain, that should remove any remaining water, then set the tank upside-down with the neck at the lowest point for a few hours, just to be safe.
