Re: Need New Batteries. What Is The Latest & Greatest
WOW!!!! Nice read.
Here are my two pennies. I use my golf cart on weekends at camp. 5 months worth per year. I run LED lights and ride all weekend with the grand-kids. (Can never get them off the thing LOL!!) This is my third year on Duracell's I bought at Sam's club. I use this charger http://shop.saveabattery.com/48-VOLT...48-2365-48.htm and leave it plugged in all year long. I have yet to add water to any of my six eight volt batteries. (I check once a month faithfully) When I check the voltage after unplugging it... it is usually 54.2 volts I run a Bandit motor and all other components are stock. So take it for what's it's worth. All Batteries will have differences. I would look at how you use your cart and go from there. My setup works for my needs :-) .... Does yours??? |

Re: Need New Batteries. What Is The Latest & Greatest
If your looking for various opinions I'd say that since you need to purchase a charger to build your cart then I'd be looking at the DPI Accusence line of chargers as they have the size to provide the higher amperage needed during the absorption phase and once finished they never shut off keeping your batteries at peak voltage which is good for them in the long run....

Re: Need New Batteries. What Is The Latest & Greatest
Hi everyone.... teecro makes a good point here. I am a light user on my batteries so this charger works great for me. If you are heavy user on your batteries definitely get something like a DPI Charger. They can re-charge your batteries overnight. Mine will take days.
To Bigchief803 - I love the charger. It is made to charge a 48 volt pack no matter what it sits in. The leads go from the positive side of the pack all the way to the negative. The best thing I like is I can still use my main big fat heavy Club Car charger if I use my batteries heavily. All I need to do is unplug the lead from the charger that goes to both the positive and negative on the batteries. But... as I stated "I use my cart on weekends" so I can just plug it back in Sunday night and when I return that Friday I am fully charged. Note: One of the things I had to look at was that my cart sits under the awning of my camper. Cart still gets wet when it rains so I needed something that I didn't have to worry if it rained, something that would charge and maintain all year long and something more up to date than the 1999 main charger I have. I found it in SaveaBattery. :-) |

Re: Need New Batteries. What Is The Latest & Greatest
Thanks for all of the input guys. I may look at US Battery. I can get the Trojans for about 200 bucks.
As for cart usage. Mine gets used almost daily. Sometimes for an hour or more, other times just a few minute ride to go get the mail. |
