More battery advice
I have 36v EZGO DCS.
The batteries have a pack charge of 37.7 6.31 6.29 6.29 6.30 6.29 6.29 The batteries are PowerFast which looks to be a sams club battery. When I purchased the cart recently, one post was bent and previous owner had put a lag screw in to connect the cable. I purchased some 2 gauge cables to do a cables replacement and now find that another post is loose on another battery. The cables were in bad shape. I can not find any dates on the age of the batteries...was told at the time the batteries were a year or two. I was going to replace the battery that had a lag screw in it if I had any problems putting on the new cable. Now I run into this 2nd battery that the post is loose or wobbles. At this point I have the nut off the post, but don't think it is wise to tighten the nut down. The post doesn't spin, it just wobbles or is loose. Should I go and get 2 new batteries or replace all of them? Or try to repair the 2 bad ones? Thx Skip Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

Re: More battery advice
If the batteries are good I would try a repair first. If that fails, get yourself a good new set. It is never good to replace only one or two of a used set. You want your batteries matched for capacity and age if at all possible.

Re: More battery advice
If you're replacing, go ahead and replace them all. Putting new with old will bring them down. Break them in correctly and they'll last a while.

I spoke with a person local and he said the post that wobbles could short out and catch fire.
If I were to tap and new post and leave the one that is loose, is that going to cause any problems? He made this out to be a real dangerous situation... Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

Still could not find a date on the battery pack. I did see the batteries are PowerFast by interstate and are 208 AH batteries.
With a pack charge of 37.7...is there anyway to determine or guess approximately how much more time I could see with these batteries? If I replaced 1 or 2 batteries now and could get 1 to 1.5 years use...I would probably do that. If I am going to get less than a year by replacing 1 to 2 batteries with the damaged terminals, I think I would get a new set of batteries. I just don't have any real experience on what is possible. I have already spent more than wanted with the cart so just trying to minimize more cost and just get some enjoyment out of having the cart. Thanks for hell Skip Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

Re: More battery advice
According to the numbers you posted there is not a battery in the pack that comes up to a full charge. These are not the best battery and they are not in the best shape. So I would consider adding new batts to this pack throwing good money after bad. When new batts are added to an old pack they are reduced to the level of the old batts soon.
It may be time to bite the bullet and get 6 new ones. Hope this helps |

Re: More battery advice
I agree. Unknown old batteries and a couple new ones are not a good combination. You will ruin the new ones in short order.
