Solenoid clicks no go
So here we have the classic solenoid will click but starter will not turn over unless i jump the two terminals with a screwdriver. so i replaced it with a ez go solenoid and it worked for about 30 mins and then its doing the same thing. it will click u can see the plunger moove but the starter will not crank unless you jump the solenoid. what could be the problem here? or a good place to start? i really dont want to keep burning out these solenoids there not cheap!

Re: Solenoid clicks no go
Go to sticky at top of page, fifth one down. "So your yami wont turn over"
That will give the test procedure on what is wrong. |

Re: Solenoid clicks no go
yeahh so I read that already the real problem is it sticks I've tried multiple solenoids. It sticks so when you activate it it wont propel up thus closing the contacts. If you push the bottom plunger just a little bit it will become unstuck for a little while and you can ride it then after a little bit it will stick again and you must push this little pin almost i can get pictures and show you if it helps. any advice?

Re: Solenoid clicks no go
Blind, I haven't read the sticky, but I would say, you either have a bad solenoid, a sticking pedal switch, a bad battery, or a bad connection with a wire related to that system.
If it were me, I would make sure I have 12 volts + current,(load test battery) all terminals are clean, including ground circuits and when I push the throttle pedal, I have 12 v.+ at the solenoid, and then I would get the proper Yamaha solenoid. There are many different solenoids, what the differences are I wouldn't know, so you probably need to have the correct one. I would do all the things that are free first, but putting a ezgo solenoid on a Yamaha, is like putting ford parts on a chevy. For test purpose maybe, but do not leave it in. If you want the car reliable, you have to do things right. good luck Mike |

Re: Solenoid clicks no go
There so pricey for yami solenoids lol! there is 12 volts at the solenoid when pedal is depressed i did check that. the battery is brand new and i cleaned all the connections. :( guess ill poke around for the right solenoid! but i was under the impression that as long as it was continues duty it was fair game.
