what should i do to my golf cart to allow it to go off road
I have a yamaha G1 and am trying to make it into an off road golf cart.
i have a 6 inch lift kit and i want to know what else i should do to it so it will keep up with ATVs is welding the spider gears a good idea and what kind of tires would be best for off roading |

Independant front suspension. 3 or 4 link rear suspension. 25+ hp big block. Full roll cage. And some good ATV tires (Maxxis Big Horns are popular around here).

It is not necessary to weld the pinion gears in a G1 trans. To lock the diff, just turn two of the pinion gears around and that will lock it up. When you take the trans apart, you will see what I mean. I use my buggies off road, but as far as keeping up with the ATV's that may be a tall order. Atv's have more ground clearance, better suspension, better brakes, more power. AirJunky is right, major modifications are needed to allow a 1980's golf cart to keep up with a purpose-built offroad ATV.
