My question would be how does one know, from run time alone, or how would one estimate, the percentage of discharge? How would one know if they're at or near 50% capacity for arguments sake?

Just curious.....
There's a state of discharge chart you go by. It is listed in the cc stickies. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-readings.html You just keep up with the voltage of your pack, and read the chart.

Great chart given to me by the techs at Trojan Battery Co. when I inquired about frequent charging and various discharge scenarios.
This is why it is so important to have a good on board battery meter. I prefer digital so it directly corresponds to the chart below also from Trojan.
You can use a bar or analog type gauge so long as you calibrate it with your digital voltmeter and know what the specific voltage is at each bar or?

They are usually set at 2/3rds the rated amperage.

sounds like u got the old batteries and the new one switched!!!!!!!!!!!

Just charge them. Keep them full. If you used the cart, charge it. If it's sat unused for a week, charge it. Dont forget to check the fluid levels (when they are fully charged, keep them above the plates & below the neck at the top). I prefer to keep them about 1/4" above the plates, less mess that way. You gain no capacity or other benefits by filling them higher.
