Default Battery meter not working

I bought a bar battery meter for my 48 volt Yamaha golf cart. I hooked it up and it works great but it seems like it reacts delayed. I just charged the cart all the way up and it shows empty and the other day I was driving it and it was half full and a second later it went to empty.

Any ideas?

Did you fully charge the cart before installing the new meter? I've read this is necessary in order to properly calibrate the new meter. Your might consider purchasing a digital battery meter that displays voltage to the nearest tenth. The general consensus on this forum is the bar meters are highly inaccurate. I am in the process of replacing mine with a more accurate and reliable meter.

ScottyB with CartsUnlimited sells a highly reviewed meter.

Victron makes a robust, yet expensive, meter that a few members have installed.

All the "bar meters" have their quirks, and the quirks differ based on who made it. Be ready to live with it, there is no perfect bar graph meter.
