Re: Acceleration or clutch problem
I found this number on the belt: EZGO 72328-GO146-2616. A little ways down the belt in smaller characters are the numbers 3104-7. Hope this help.

Re: Acceleration or clutch problem
I'd gently smack it around with a dead blow hammer or rubber mallet, it should open up or....You can take the cover off the clutch and inspect the inside for damage or to see why the little weight and levers aren't working right. get it to open up first then you can get the belt off.

Re: Acceleration or clutch problem
Jon, you were right about it not opening up. Belt is off. What am I looking for when I open the cover and can I repair it in place or should I go ahead and remove the clutch.
If I have to remove it, there is not enough clearance to get the clutch out. What is the best way to proceed == drop the front engine mount?? While I'm messing with clutches, is there any need to consider changing/ upgrading the spring in the driven clutch?? |

Re: Acceleration or clutch problem
Pulled the cover and a bunch of dirt fell out. As I rotated the clutch more dirt fell out. Can anybody tell me the best way to remove the driven clutch as it is apparent that I need to at least clean mine. Based on the prices I seen for new ones I hope a good cleaning is all it needs.

Re: Acceleration or clutch problem
you need a clutch puller, some people have made improvised ones with a 3/4" fine thread bolt and scockets.

What's the best way to get the needed clearance to get it out?

Re: Acceleration or clutch problem
The engine shaft is pretty short, all you need to do is get enough clearance to get the bolt out and use the puller. seems like the last time I did that I unbolted the rear of the leaf spring and shock on the drivers side and jacked up that corner.

Re: Acceleration or clutch problem
Thanks for the info. Didn't see any point in trying to reinvent "the wheel" so to speak. I'll give that a try.
The spring has surface rust and as I said before, the clutch has dirt in it. Any recommendation on parts to change while I'm there? |

Re: Acceleration or clutch problem
I don't think you can get those parts, it's pretty much a replace the whole thing if you can't make it work kinda deal.

Re: Acceleration or clutch problem
Larry,
If you're near SW Houston I have an EZGO clutch puller you can borrow.. I also have a good used drive clutch if yours is too far gone.. |
