Default Still New

I am still new to this site and to carts in general.. One thing that I have noticed is that every one or most everyone puts a lift kit and huge wheels and tires on there cart. What is the advantage to this?? It is that I do not like the look, I do, I am just asking....

i run mine off road so thats the reason i did mine. Most people do it because it fits the bill of a side by side UTV at about 1/3rd the price. And i like the look

With some minor modifications, and lifted with larger wheels, you can more than double the speed of these things! And that makes them more useful to just about anyone.

If thats your bug in your aviator, I will tell you right now, you are gonna be hooked on these things fast!!

Since you already have one, its to late!!! So just ENJOY!

That is my money pit (LOL) I've had that bug since 79, street, then hot street, then some time racer, than well it is just my thing. I bought a cart late 08 to use a the track and as you said I have just got involved way more that I wanted to. I will post some pictures when I can figure out how. I did a body and paint thing. Re did the seats. Added wheels and tires 205 10's now I have added a cluch kit. I do have fun with it. It is part of my racing now. I want it to be better. So here I am.

I built a 67 Baha, then a 72 show room stock. And a couple sand rails in there as well!

Raced the sand rails on asphalt as well as sand drags, and of course the dunes. Got to race off road in Mexico, it was all fun!

But these golf cars are a blast!! And the Yamaha's really respond to any tuning, (motor or suspension). Your gonna have fun!

I did it because my friend had one and my kids loved riding on it. So then i went out and found a G9 that was in bad shape and rebuilt it. Now almost every day we go trail riding. We have a G16 and two more G9s to build. All it took was one to get hooked.

Yea, like chuddly said - I don't think those of us with golf carts really want "golf" carts. We want UTV's, but at $9 - 10,000, to buy one, well that's insaine! Why do we lift our perfectly capible trucks? Cause we are guys! That's just what we do! I also think it ups the carts value with little investment, and makes em a little easier to sell to other guys!

I'm new and this is just an observation. You are pretty much dead on in my case. I'd love to have a Razor S, but it's cost prohibitive for me right now. I've got $1200 wrapped up in my great running lil cart. My recovered seats should be done today (another $200) and I'll be good to go for a while.

My main purposes are to have something to drive around at the RV park where I spend my summers boating and jet skiing. I also intend to use it to help jockey my boat and skis around. It's probably not going to be able to pull them up the always wet and pretty steep ramp, but I can use it to move things around (2nd tow vehicle). I'll also use it for bird hunting, sporting clays to carry guns, ammo, gun case, chokes etc. around the course. I'll use it for camping up in the mountains and as a grocery getter around the neighborhood (street legal). Might even pick up a set of golf course approved tires and wheels and take up golf again.

However, some of these guys have entered into another realm of carting. I'd guess there are more than a few carts in here that have enough money wrapped up in them to buy a UTV outright yet they like their carts. Which incidentally I think is pretty cool. It seems like an excellent hobby and you can move along at your own pace modifying and changing things around as you wish.

And not to mention, we want to look 'cool' at the campground man!
