Ok, here is what I have on mine. This is stamped on the shock body. They measure about 13 3/8" eye to eye. I have a call into the guy who gave them to me, but no response yet.
The zero next to the P may be an O instead, but it was ovel, so I took it as a zero.

PS. My buddy called, He thinks they are off older Yamaha G1. Maybe Small block can help here.

That is why I asked the serial#. See Mike's is an early G8, the lower shock mounting is a "bolt" style, later axle tubes had a lower shock mount that the shock would fit inside the braket and a bolt would hold it in place (like the top mount). With the "stud" style like Mikes, you really need a shock with full head and grommet, rather then a smaller end with a grommet and collar. They are somewhat in a "bind" if you catch my dribble. I do happen to have a couple of used G8a rear shocks if your interested. PS, Mike...I don't remember Jakes rear drop frame haveing 2 holes for the upper shock mount? Am I getting "senial"

Small, the serial # is JF2100572.

I think the numbers fall into the range of 1991 Gas G8. Yes, they have the studs welded to the axle. And its because of that angle of the welded stud that the one side cracked and eventually broke off.

I'd take the G8 shocks, except I'd be interested to know if anything more heavy duty would work first...

My current G8 shocks are bottomed out, with only 2 maybe 3 coils open. Maybe these are just worn out? And that's with just the seat, with no one on it!

I'll attach some pictures. The first one as you can see has very little spring left. The second picture is the broken shock. With no weight on it, it only has 4 coils open.

Maybe these were not the stock G8 shocks? The one's you have, how many coils are open? I need to figure something out very quickly, as I am taking the cart back down to the lake for memorial weekend!!

Jim, you may need to consider lowering the front of the swing arm. To straighten out most of that severe angle that the shock studs are at. Thats what I did. I used a 1/2" heim joint in the center mount, and lowered the front mounts for the 2 trailer arms. Not a fun job, as you have to rehang the rear sus. and figure out the geometry.

Here is your answer

I installed these heavy duty coilovers on my G8 with the stud. Wouldn't hurt to lower your front mount a little to lessen some of the axle angle (as Mike Mac showed).
I Just put a set on a G14 last night.

Curti, did you keep that car? When I first got on here, you were thinking about selling it for another one. I used to drool over that car, wishing mine could look that good!!
You were one of the few to inspire me!

Curti, Well, howdy neighbor! I don't see too many fellow virginin's on here! I agree with Mike, that's one sweeeeeet G8 dude!

Yea, I might have to bite the bullet and buy those Jakes shocks. They are just sooooo expensive....My wife's going to have my head soon. My $300 carts turning into a frigin' block of gold with wheels!

I was just hoping to find something cheaper.

Mike, While I agree that the front needs to be lowered, I just don't have time for that crazyness!!! Maybe that project could get done this coming winter.

I'd like to hear back form Small, to see if his G8 shocks have more spring in them!

I did find these also - http://www.lvssales.com/store/produc...0&cat=0&page=1
