Default 2001 Yamaha Carb problem

Just bought a 2001 gas Yamaha. It ran good at first, but now floods with gas coming out of vent. Checked float and this helped no gas from the vent. Still seems to be flooded. when starter runs, engine will start with heavy smoke but only runs for short time and dies. I'm not familiar with the Yamaha engine and have no maintenance manuals. Any help will be appreciated.

I just took one of mine off the G-20, let it soak in the carb cleaner for a couple hours. Theres only about 5 0r 6 pcs I used a thourch tip cleaner for the jets and small parts put it back together and it runs fine now.
Now its time for the second one and see how this one goes.

I agree, a good carb cleaning or even a kit. If it has been sitting, empty the tank, tie a rag to a stout rod and clean the tank good. Change all hoses and filters. Hose and filters are cheap.

Thanks. Good ideas. I have replaced the air and fuel filter. I drove it around today without choking it and it ran good for a short time and then started loading up. Will clean the carb.

Thanks again

I think I will try running some carb. cleaner first as this cart does not have many miles on it. The previous owner is 93 years old and bought it new. It had very good care.
Thanks for the suggestions

After many things checked it was suggested to replace the fuel pump. This seemed to solve the problem of gas in the crank case and air filter housing. The car has never run better.
Thanks for all the help!
