Club car gas battery??
I have a 2004 gas club car that I just put some stereo in and now I need a battery upgrade I think.
I have one 300 watt amp running four 6.5 speakers that have lighted grilles and a 1000 D class amp running my sub, I rode the other night with radio playing and all the lights on and my battery went dead, I am still using the stock battery and I know it's not enough but I thought maybe it would stay charged while riding. My question is what battery do I need and will my s/g put out enough to keep it charged with all I'm running? I was thinking of putting a deep cycle optima battery in place of my stock if this would work |

I am having the same problem . Just started a thread also.
I was thinking about just adding another battery under my back seat. |

Re: Club car gas battery??
I thought about doing that as well but wasn't sure how it would all work out. I would really like to get a replacement that will fit in my stock location because all of my wires are already ran there. I'm just not sure if that s/g can keep up with all I have. Any idea if I could use my stock battery and link it to a big deep cycle in the back?

Re: Club car gas battery??
Dont waste your money on an Optima, everyone i know that bought one got a year out of it,warranteed it,got a year again.Run a good name DeepCycle marine battery,if you still have issues, add a second one.Keep in mind that everytime you run a standard battery dead,it causes the battery to weaken, deep cycles are meant to run down, and be recharged many times.Batteries like Optima were a big deal when they came out,but they aren't worth the expense vs the quality.Hope this helps.

Re: Club car gas battery??
I agree , the only optima I ever owned I got for free . wouldn't pay that kind of money for 1. Had an a.c.delco deep cycle hooked to my trolling motor. for 9 years and was still kickin when I sold the boat.
I just picked up a $21 .00 lawn mower batt from advance , gonna give that a try. |

Re: Club car gas battery??
Another alternative is 2-6volt cart batteries, wire them up in series(+ to- ),and you get 12volt with a lot more reserve, and they will fit in less space than 2- 12v ones.

Re: Club car gas battery??
That was my main reason for wanting to go with an optima is because of the size. I thought maybe I could fit it in the stock location. If I can't find a battery to go in the stock location can I leave my factory one where it is and link it to a deep cycle in the back?
