Default 1990 Club Car Speed?

I have a 1990 Club Car that has a long travel lift on it with 23" aggressive tread tires. With that being said the golf cart is a pooch when it comes to take off and going up hills. I know that the lift and tires don't help, but is there much of anything I can do to the cart? I haven't tried the speed thread that is tagged to the top, and will do so, but want to make sure I don't hurt the motor to much as well. I am ok with potential motor swaps as long as it is somewhat of a unbolt/bolt in solution, but anything that will save me money is that much more appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The clutch work will help you climb hills, but it's not a huge difference that you'll notice anywhere else. If you want more noticeable power across the entire power band you'll probably want to do a motor swap. Most swaps aren't bolt/unbolt, you'll need to do some custom fitting, but many guys do them and they don't seem terribly difficult.

Here's a thread of a swap I've been following. Post #48 shows the motor he used. It's sold by a golf cart supplier. The stock horsepower of the KF82 motor in mine and your cart is rated at about 8hp. The motor used in the swap below is rated at 20hp:
