Gas Club Car doesn't fire up
After installing the rebuilt starter/generator in my gas club car, I can not get it to fire. The starter seems to be running fine and it responds to the ignition switch. However, when I depress the foot pedal the starter starts up, but I get no firing of the engine. Any help as to what may be causing this?

Re: Gas Club Car doesn't fire up
Are you getting spark? Pull the spark plug, hold it against the motor with some insulated pliers (to ground it). When you push the pedal you should see the plug firing and hear it clicking.

Re: Gas Club Car doesn't fire up
I have verified that the cart is getting spark. The plug is dry and acts loke it's not getting gas. I removed the fuel line to the carb and verified that the fuel is getting to the carb. The cart was running well before the brushes went out of the starter. Does the crb need to be primed?

Re: Gas Club Car doesn't fire up
How much time did you spend trying to fire it up? If the cart hasn't been started in awhile it may take a minute or two of turning over for the fuel to get to the chamber and the cart to start. Can you put some gas directly in the chamber, put the plug back in, and get it to fire up? That will confirm for sure that it's a fuel delivery issue.

Re: Gas Club Car doesn't fire up
Another possibility is maybe, just maybe... you hooked the S/G up backwards so it's turning the engine over opposite of it's intended rotation!
You'll see it looking at the drive clutch while cranking the engine. 1985 to 1996 - Counter Clockwise 1997 to present - Clockwise |

Yep, That was it. The polarity was switched. Thanks for the insight. It runs like a champ now.
