Bad controller? Something else?
Writing from the bahams, home where golf carts come to die.mew tried to fix three of our neighbors carts, got one going. This is a 48 volt club car ir. Local mechanics put in new motor and batteries, still dead.,there solution is to start bypassing stuff. I have 50 volts one side of solenoid, 30 volts at forward reverse switch, 30 volts on all four terminals of motor, 30 volts at all times on other side of solenoid. Tried bridging solenoid with jumper, nothing. Have 50.9 volts across the battery pack. Obc has been disconnected, ground run from neg number six battery to small post on solenoid. Below is what happens when people give up.

I'm thinking about retiring to your island and opening a cart repair shop
Don't get sidetracked checking voltage all over the cart. Concentrate on making the solenoid click when the gas pedal is depressed. This is step one in all cart operation. |

Did get a spark when jumping solenoid. What would be the symptoms of a bad controller? If I am correct, the battery packs are the engine, the pedal the throttle cable, the solenoid the starter and controller the carb. Just trying to compare to what I know. Thanks |

Re: Bad controller? Something else?
Scottyb, that Is just what I needed to know for my problem on another post. Now I have to wait until my beer assistant is home to help. (Arms are not long enough to press the pedal, and check voltage at the same time.) can a Solendoid engage sometimes and not others?
I was planning on drive train upgrade anyway. Can components be added a little at a time? My upgrade budget too a little hit that is slowing me down. But like can you replace the SC and Sol with the new upgraded ones of the right capacities for bigger wires, and motor to be added later or is is better to simply wait? I've got only a month of deer season left an the cart is down right now either way. |
