Default precedent sits for a while and goes completely dead

Good afternoon. I have an elderly lady that lives in the park with a 2011 club car precedent. Her cart is having an issue with the batteries going dead. The batteries are original. This cart sometimes sits for a couple of months and when she tries to use it it will not go. I have to put an automotive charger on it for a while to get the 48 volt charger to kick on finally. My question is why would these batteries get so dead from just sitting and not being used? Also is the an electrical issue I should look for as well such as something draining the batteries.

Thank you

An estimate of battery discharge is 1% SOC per day, so if it sits two months without a charge, it could lose up to 60% SOC, which would cause the charger to not kick on. The PD charger tops off the batteries every 15 days if it's left connected to the cart, which should prevent this from happening.

The power drive charger will turn itself back on with out unplugging it? I had no idea it would come back on.

Yes, unless there is a power outage, then I believe it must be unplugged and plugged back in again.

The power outage will have to happen during a charge cycle (The only time the OBC can detect AC) and last longer than 7 days for it not to come back automatically.

Really good to know. Thank you. I always thought once it was off it would not come on again.
