Every time I see the thread title, the first image is of an outside lineman's hot-stick.

Re: waterproof/onboard charger poll
After a fair amount of thinking, and knowing how much trouble hauling the charger around and how often that just hauling them around they give trouble, that water proof onboard charger seems to be the way to go for almost everyone...........

Re: waterproof/onboard charger poll
I would consider purchasing the onboard charger at some point in my upgrades.
If installed does it eliminate the possibility to charger with the standard charger? |

Re: waterproof/onboard charger poll
You could still use the OEM OBC/charger.
I just had an idea about that, by-pass the OBC lockout and power the OBC from the Tow/Run switch. On the precedents at the OBC 6-pin connector: Cut the Red wire, the side going into the harness gets taped and not used. That way the OBC will not interfere with the other charger and it will not lockout the cart. If You ever need to use the OEM charger, just tun the tow/run to tow for a minute (no controller capacitors so the OBC will reset in seconds), flip back to run and charger it. The OBC will default to dV/dT algorithm since it just got reset, so the charge condition of the pack as calculated by the OBC would not matter. |

Re: waterproof/onboard charger poll
That was the long version of "yes, you can still use the standard charger..."
