RXV freedom radio question
Hey guys I need some info before I go and buy another battery. I have an RXV Freedom so I was wondering if I could tap into the power source to the head lights instead of hooking up a new battery or connecting to the battery pack. Are the head lights on a regulator? Would this be a bad idea? Thanks for the info.

Re: RXV freedom radio question
Not sure how your headlights are wired. Could be to a single battery or through a reducer. I added a 12 volt power source to my RXV and I spliced off the headlight wires. You will just have to find a positive wire that is on a switch. Been almost half a year now and I don't have any problems. I would not want to add the extra weight of a battery if it was me.

Re: RXV freedom radio question
The RXV does not have a stock reducer on board, you can purchase one from EZGO, part # 608788 (if you can the offical EZGO brand). Since the cart is 4 x 12 EZGO did not need to include a reducer.
To answer your question, yes, you can tap 12 volts from any wire you wish, however, you need to find a constant 12 volt wire for radio memory (unless you don't mind losing you presets/settings every time) which I have not found one yet (not saying there is not one, but I have not found it on mine). I ran my radio's connections directly to 1 of the batteries. I used the middle battery of the front 3. I am going to install a reducer in the coming weeks as I don't want to cause premature wear on that battery, but I am with JERJ7907 - I don't want to add the weight or have to charge another battery just for my radio/headlights/acc. power. I will have my dash open again today or tomorrow when I install my SOC so I will let you know if I run across constant 12 volt. |
