Re: 7/8 lock nut and cotter-pin on steering rack?
Anybody? is it like the front hub axle nut or is it supposed to be cinched down tight? It is the large nut that is located on the rack. older style steering.

ok, thanks, I did look around before asking and came up empty handed.
I am assuming it should not be sloppy loose though? Get it firm then back it off to put the pin in? thanks again! |

Go to the stickies and download the Owner's, Service, and Parts manuals. They should have torques for all fasteners.

Thanks for the reply yurtle! I did that...it was the 1st thing I did when I joined, it is maybe I have overlooked it. I will go back over it but so far nothing.. I have scoured over the post here and else where as well.. I am sure it's here I just have'nt found it yet. I can move it back and forth with my hand and I want to make sure it's right.

Torque may not be in the manual. If you're talking about slop, I replaced mine and it was much better. If it's what I'm thinking about, it looks like a bronze bushing, and wears out.

Re: 7/8 lock nut and cotter-pin on steering rack?
yurtle I think I just found it in the EZGO Technician's repair & service manual. page G-24
FRONT SUSPENSION AND FRAME MOUNTED STEERING? Lock nut (22) with 2 washers (23) (24) it says 70-80ft. lbs. I do not have a torque wrench yet.. sunday gonna pick one up.. so about how much force is that? full on or just nice and easy tight? |

Is this the nut you're talking about? The big one facing front?
