Default Cart Clicks but won't Go HELP PLEASE

I built a cart out of 2 carts. 91 EZGO gas cart frame and 93 EZGO 36 electric that was a rust bucket. When I first hooked every thing up on jack stands it went in forward and reverse with no problem. Drove around the yard for 5 minutes and it quit. Jacked it back up and got it to run for a few seconds and it quit again. Now solenoid clicks by nothing else. Voltage reads good everywhere. I get a slight drop when the pedal is pressed and get an increase to 37 volts on the motor terminals. The only thing wrong I have found is the nickle sized diode or resistor on the controller from B+ to B- was broken but it was broken before I ever started.

Is there a list of places to check voltage and what they should be on the older carts?

Here is a Marathon solenoid activation diagram. You should have 36v + all along the red wire check at every connection.

Scotty, The solenoid is clicking. Could it still be bad?

Yes, it has happened. Test it. remove the resistor if there is one and see if the 36v is coming through it when it clicks.

Completed solenoid activation test and have over 37 volts everwhere other than B- which made sense as it goes back to ground on the battery pack. I have over 37 volts on all terminals of the F&R swithch and the motor. Really stumped. Could it be the motor?

The "nickle sized resistor" between B+ and B- on controller is a Metal-Oxide Varistor (MOV). Basically a surge protector, disconnect at least one of the leads, cart will run okay without it.

Connect your voltmeter between M- and B- terminals on controller.
Should read FULL battery pack voltage when pedal is push only until solenoid clicks.

If it doesn't there is a problem in the high current loop. Bad brushes in motor, bad cable, bad F/R switch, bad solenoid contacts.

If it does, push pedal to floor. Voltage should drop to zero or near to it.
If not the throttle (pot box) is bad or the controller is bad.

29.1 volts from M- to B- with pedal up. Pedal down it goes to 37.2. I also am reading 0 on the pedal pot with pedal up and around 6.0 with it all the way down.

I little confused. Are you saying I should have full voltage before pressing the fedal or after?

Thanks for the help!

Push the pedal until the solenoid clicks and no further.
At that point, full battery pack voltage should be between M- and B-.

Before the solenoid clicks, you are reading the voltage coming through the pre-charge resistor across the open solenoid contacts, which will less than full battery pack voltage. (29.1V is a bit low, but is a separate issue)

Once FULL battery pack voltage has been established between M- and B-, then push the pedal further down and the voltage should decrease, reaching Zero, or very close to it, when the pedal reaches the floor.

The way to check the throttle (Pot-Box) is to pull the Balck and White wires off the controller and measure between the wires with an Ohmmeter.
Should be close to Zero Ohms with pedal up and about 5,000 Ohms with pedal on floor.
