Easily is a relative term.

Sounds like you have the later style DCS F/R switch that had a metal disk that turns with a microswitch on either side.

The contacts in one switch are closed in both F and R and the other switch is only closed in R. Both switches are open in Neutral.

To duplicate that action, you need a SPDT center off switch and a diode.

You can pick up a keyswitch plate that is precut for a DVM battery meter and a PDS F/R switch from Scotty. http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Digita...ry_Meters.html

Here is a schematic shown a PDS F/R switch and diode, wired into a DCS cart

im glad you mentioned that. i took apart mine when i was removing it from the cart and i thought i reassembled it wrong because both switches were pressed in one position and one was pressed at the other position. so i did put it together correctly. i think im gonna just put it back together normal in the cart and revisit this idea later

Yep, one switch enables the solenoid activation circuit while the other tells the controller to send the current through the field winds in the other direction and to sound the beeper.

The two microswitches on a series cart F/R assembly work about the same way. One is part of the solenoid activation circuit and is closed in both directions, while the other sounds the reverse beeper and, if so equipped, tells the controller to reduce to half speed for reverse.

BTW: Some people like the F/R by their knee because they have to stretch a bit to reach it on the dash.

I'm tossing around the idea of relocating the directional switch to the steering column.....no reaching down, or reaching for the dash! What do you think, JohnnyB?

You'll have to reach around the steering wheel.

That's another nice thing about DCS and PDS carts, the F/R switch can be mounted anywhere you can get 3 wires to.

So can a series, if you buy reversing contactors.

Is it safe to assume that upgrading the switch on my 2005 36v TXT series cart will increase performance?

Only if the contacts in the switch presently installed have excessive resistance, which reduces your cart's performance.

No. The F&R is a switching device. It just conducts the amperage flowing. It will not increase this flow unless the condition JB explained above exists.

Not trying to high jack, but my '13 48v txt is a Serpex build I guess. It has the f/r rocker switch on the dash. Can I change to one of the side to side under the knee rocker switch? I have no idea what cart they come on but we had an ez go rental at the beach that had one. It was nice not having to reach out to the dash to switch.
