Default Re: Accessory Battery or Voltage Reducer?

If you exceed the rating they will burn out in a short time. Maybe more important, can the wires handle the extra voltage?
Everything electrical has an advertised voltage. Normally not so public is the tolerance of the item. When one exceeds the maximum published rate by as much as 20%, (30 volts on 36 volts), one is pushing the tolerance of the item.
In short, you are running the risk of burning up your cart.

Yeh the previous poster was connecting the lights in series, so on 36 volts each of the lights will be seeing 18 volts, well within spec.

AS long as they are identical lights connected in series.

AHH yes, but if you lose one you lose em both.

cheers

I run a 12 volt deep cycle sealed rv/marine battery in my cc. I got a simple battery tender and plug the 12 volt in every night when I plug the cart in .

Pics of battery and tender here http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/album.php?albumid=2817

Whizzo, could you explain that circuit?
It has been a very long time but I seem to remember something about voltage out must always be the same as voltage in.
That is, if one connects a wire to the primary positive side of a battery pack, installs a switch and a couple lights along the way and connects the other end to the primary negative post, a measure of the voltage anywhere along the circuit will be the same 36 volts.

Like I said, It has been a long time, near 50 years, so my memory may have failed me.
