Default '95 Par Car Twisted Drive Belt

The drive belt on my 95 par car twisted. Had to cut it off with a grinder. Bought a new belt, it twisted in 30 minutes. I don't want to buy another until I can find out what is causing this! I'd appreciate help with this problem! Thanx, Randy

This has never happened to one of my carts so I can't be a ton of help but I just googled "belt flips upside down" and got a lot of hits for a variety of engines and applications.

The consensus answer is that the belt is too tight or the pulleys (clutches in our case) our not aligned properly. You sure you are buying the right belt?

I only deal with 80s carts so I'm not sure about the alignment thing in those "newer" ones. Maybe get a service manual here:

and see if there any mention of having to align the clutches?

There is no service manual for a 95 model.

The 91-92 GSEL shows the same clutch as what I have on my 83 model. I assume your clutch is this type.

The 96-Present GSEL shows a different type of clutch.

I see no mention in either manual about lining up the clutches.

Do you have a picture of how the belt twisted or how the alignment of your clutches look? Kind of sounds like the belt is riding up the movable flange while not making contact the the fixed flange, thereby fliping the belt inside out.

I've checked the motor mounts, they were tight. There is no adjustment on the clutches for alignment. The pulley surfaces are smooth and shiny. My wife took the 1st cut belt to a golf cart shop in Wichita, Ks., with the Model # off the motor plate. They had to order the belt, was it the right one or not? I can't say. It was hard to install it. My son and grandson were driving it when the belt twisted. I again had to cut it off with a grinder cut off wheel. I guess I'm going to have to try another belt. I'm going to put the cart on jack stands and start it and run it suspended. I'll see if I can catch what happens.
Thanx, Randy
