Default Tire and Rim Selection Advice

It's time to buy the tires and rims for my hunting cart project.

I have installed a 4" lift. I currently have the stock 18-8.5-8 tires on it with centered rims.

I am not concerned with looking cool. I just need extra ground clearance and the tires will only be operated off the hard surface. Mostly hard dirt, mud, sand and gravel so an aggressive tread will be great, even a directional tire.

I want a 22" tire but am all up in the air about about how wide they come in. An 11" wide tire seems to be the norm in a 22. That is going to increase the width of the cart a lot after offsetting the tires to get inside clearance. That seems like it will apply a lot more force on those little spindles but the biggest problem is getting between the trees and crap at the hunting property. I have learned however that it is best to buy what is the norm.

Right now the back of the rear tires are only about 1/8" away from the top spring plate.

With the front wheel turned all the way to the side even the stock 18" tires are only about 1-1/2" from the leaf spring.

Anybody already been down this road and willing to offer advice or know who to call?

Default Re: Tire and Rim Selection Advice

I put 22 x 11 x 10 tires on a rebuild with a 5" lift. They work fine just a bit of a rub on the front tires when the steering is hard over. The rims should be offset to accomodate the wider tires. I did not have any problems with clearance on the back.
