Default FE290 Timing Marks

Where do the timing marks align on the crank and cam when reinstalling the cam?

TY very much. I aligned the timing marks properly w/ the piston TDC. I have spark, fuel and compression but, motor will not start. IDK where to go from here. Original issue was the engine needed rings so, after replacing rings, grinding the valves, I reassembled and reinstalled engine. The starter/generator wouldn't work. I replaced the starter/generator and works fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What year is your cart?
I ask because you've replaced the S/G... Which way does your drive clutch rotate now?
85 to 96 engines rotate counter-clockwise, and 97+ engines rotate clockwise,
it's pretty common to wire the S/G backwards!

Also... The airbox should be connected to the carburetor for it to run halfway decently.

It's a 91 and I copied a friends wiring set up from his cart, same year. Without having the machine here, I think it's running clockwise. What wires would I switch to run CC? TY

A 91 is a KF82 flathead engine, the drive clutch should spin counter-clockwise while trying to start it!

Checked the rotation and it is CC. Tried starter fluid and still nothing out of the engine. I can only assume something was not put together properly since the motor ran before it was disassembled.

If you need to switch rotation of SG swap the green and the ground wire on the side of the SG and itll run the opposite direction.

Possibly try switching the rotation just to rule that out. Also check pull the airbox hose to rule out airflow and try starting it while its disconnected. Check the airbox to make sure the choke isnt stuck and theres nothing blocking it etc.. Could also be flooding, try starting it and pull the plug, is it soaking wet with fuel? Check all your wires and connections, put some dielectric grease on them and make sure no wires are grounding out somewhere. Youve got to be missing one of those three, spark, fuel(gas+air), or compression. If you have all three it will run so youre missing one of them somewhere.
