Do you have your diodes oriented correctly on the solenoid?

Diode is bypassing solenoid coil regardless of direction it is installed! Couldn’t understand why solenoid coil did not activate even though it showed 50 volts across the coil poles.
I disconnected the diode from one pole and tested for function. Motor revs up and seems to be working fine. Will not operate the cart until I get a new diode.

Well, I’ve been running cart with no problems for a month. Yesterday was running cart near top speed. Slowed and made a turn started to accelerate and the cart would only do half speed. Now will only run 14 mph after running 24 for the last month. Could I have a potentiometer problem. I can’t understand why the speed would suddenly be reduced so suddenly.
