Default Golf Cart Security

Hi,

I live near the beach and recently there has been 14 carts stolen in a week or so. They are all stolen from the beach golf cart parking area.

People including myself go to the beach and leave there carts unattended for hours on end. I was looking for some advice/experience with different security measures.

I was looking at the Hawk system but I know there are a lot of options.

Thanks in advance

I use the bicycle cable lock around the seat back upright and through the steering wheel. It makes it impossible to lift the seat or drive... thieves will go to the next unsecured cart.

probably a curt wheel lock on the front wheel(s) would do the trick

Leave the cart totally filthy, covered in mud (plus some cactus if possible), keep it looking like a total POS! I wish it were legal to use the car security system as seen in "the naked gun 33 1/3", that would learn 'em to mess with peoples stuff (it comes out from under the car and clamps on the "man berries" real hard).

We haven't had any trouble on the north end (NMB) that I know of. I use a master cable lock around the steering wheel to the roof brace after turning the wheel all the way to one side. I have a different key switch but haven't installed it yet.

and if you use Scotty technique......remember to turn the wheels all the way in one direction before installing the lock.

I used to use the bike cable lock on my marathon, worked perfect. cranked the wheel, and locked it to the fixed arm rests on the cart body.

I used to use a boot like device that clamped around a wheel. That was for when I left it unattended for months at a time. Nowadays I rely on insurance. It's fully covered and I'm never gone more than 30 minutes.
