Older 3 wheel ez go ignition
I've looked through the stickies and compared my cart to what I see in wiring diagrams but am still coming up confused. I picked up the cart cheap, and it needed batteries. Instead of starting off with expensive 6 volt batteries I went with 3 deep cycle marine type batteries for now just to make sure the thing works otherwise, then I'll consider new 6 volt batteries down the road if everything else on the cart works well. I wired up the new batteries but the on/off ignition switch was not wired up. Does anyone know where the 2 wires from the ignition switch go? There's some wires in this thing that were cut/spliced, twisted together here and there by the previous owner. I'd post pictures but apparently I need to wait 7 days as a new member before I have that capability. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Older 3 wheel ez go ignition
One goes to the main + battery terminal. This feeds power to the switch. The switch output should be to the F&R micro switch that is triggered in both F&R positions.

I tried that and it caused a short in the switch when you flipped the switch on. I moved the wire to the negative battery terminal and from there to the top terminal of the f&r switch labeled with the f1 wire (which runs to the motor) and the cart works. But it works when the switch is both on and off...

That doesn't sound right. Is the cart resistor coil drive or solid state drive?

Re: Older 3 wheel ez go ignition
Pretty sure and is are 2 different diagrams.
If the carts very old it may not look like either pic & have a motor sticking forward in the middle of the batteries = resistor coil cart also 1st pic is solid state 2nd is resistor coil |

Mine has the motor sticking forward between the batteries. The frame of the cart looks the same though

I'm going to have to figure out a way to get a picture posted. It says that I can't post links until I'm a member for 7 days but maybe I can upload a picture on my computer. I'll try when I get home

Re: Older 3 wheel ez go ignition
The cart is pre 1987. The diagram should be in the stickies up above.
