What year for controller cart
I have read ezgo started using controllers on their carts as early as 1989(special order),I have someone with a 1988 with controller,what motor should be on this cart in order to work? Did he try to upgrade?

The "series" carts are not "picky" about motors like "sepex" systems are (where correct field maps to match motor are required). The rules are more like "guidelines". Dont try to put a hotrod motor on a 250a controller. Or a 500a controller on a stock motor (or short lifespan of parts will haunt you). The stock txt "au-2500 fleet speed" 13mph or "au-2500 hi speed" 19mph motors are fine for ezgos stock controllers. I dont know the model # of the stock marathon motor, but its about 13mph @ 36v. Stock36v motors are generally fine to run on 48v if you keep the controller amps to 400 or less (stock 36v controllers are not cool with 48v).
