Default Will a Curtis 1205M-5603 controller work?

I have just had a failure of my Alltrax NPX4844 series controller and can get a Curtis 1205M-5603 500A for a good price. I have looked up the manual from Curtis web page and they list 10 throttles that this controller can be programmed for,but none of them is for a 3 wire 5k - 0. They have a 2 wire 5k - 0. Can the 3 wire MCOR be used as a 2 wire ? Tks for any guidance

Well I went ahead and got it . It works perfectly with Throttle setting 9 although the manual is somewhat confusing. Fortunately I had access to the 1311 programmer and after trying out a couple of the other settings #1 (2 wire 5K - 0) and #4 (2 wire 5,5K - O) which only gave 60% throttle max. the #9 gives full response.

That's good to know. I am curious why more people aren't using it. For $170 for a chinese clone and $250 for a real one, it seems more people would be inclined to use them over the $500 ones that are advertised everywhere.

I am new to the cart scene, but not electronics. So it's been interesting learning all the ins and outs and what's really what... I can't PM yet, cause I am still new or I would have hit you up there.

Did it wire up normal? I know you had to select Type 9, but how did you get 5k-0 with Type 9 selected?

Thanks for the info!

Club Car does not make any carts with 5kΩ-0 2-wire rheostat type throttle setup.

What is referred to as a 5k-0 is indeed a "single-ended 3 wire potentiometer" or type 9 on that Controller.

If You have an MCOR, type 9 is the best option.

If your cart has a multi-step potentiometer (Vglide body), You can wire it as as type 0 (0-5k), type 1 (5k-0) or the best type 9 (single ended 3 wire).

Keep in mind that you do need a special programmer to change those settings so it is best to get the Controller already programmed.

Oh awesome information, thanks Sergio! I have a 2000.5 48v Club Car DS, with Series motor. I know it's a 5k-0, but from what I am reading is I should have a MCOR. The later 2000.5 seems to match a 2001 which there seems to be more information for.

Now I just need to decide on the motor.

You can rent a Curtis Programmer for $40 a month. That should be enough time to mess with things, get them setup, and be good to go.

So I got my 1205-5603 installed. I have the 1311 programmer. Wired it in the same fashion as the stock controller. However in Type 9 I have 0% throttle in reverse but 100% throttle forward.

When I select Type 2 I get 60% throttle in reverse and 75% throttle forward.

In Type 0 the throttle is reversed, so I have to push it all the way down and then slowly raise it to get movement, and reverse then is 100% only and activated at about 40-50% throttle input.

Im stuck and willing to try any suggestions.

0 2-wire potentiometer, 0–5kΩ input
1 2-wire potentiometer, 5kΩ–0 input
2 single-ended 0–5V input
3 2-wire potentiometer, 4.6kΩ–0 input
4 2-wire potentiometer, 5.5kΩ–0 input
5 2-wire potentiometer, 1kΩ–0 input
6 ITS input
7 6.3–10.6 V input
8 6–12 V input
9 single-ended 3-wire potentiometer, 0–5kΩ input.

Okay, I confused myself earlier with the MCOR talk. My cart is. 2000.5+ so it seems to be a ******* year for the Club Cars.

It appears I have one of these...

If you are asking what that is, it is the Vglide referred to in post #6
(multi-step potentiometer)
