Default Fastners

I put a new body kit on my 2005 Club Car DS.

The hatch that covers up the OBC and other parts on the back of the body, has the 2 screws to hold it in place.

There is an insert in the old body that the screws connect to. I would like to know if others have put a body kit on and found any inserts that I can use to replace the old ones.

Thanks
Phil

Well, to answer my own post. I found they are called Jack Nut Inserts. But to buy a pack of the inserts and the gun needed to fasten them, It will run about 80.00 for 2 uses.

Anybody ever used a substitute?

Thanks

Check with Harbor Freight or Amazon for rivet nut items like this:

https://www.harborfreight.com/45-pie...-kit-1210.html

This kit has several different size rivet nuts, but the 1/4-20 is the size you need.

I have used them in a lot of applications although not in a polyester body material. I think they would work if you don't tighten the screws too tight.

I've used metal expanding anchors from Lowes, Menards, Home Depot etc. They make a "short" version in 1/4" x20. The bolts (phillips head) that come with it are way long, but they work just fine.

My spartan body cover didn’t line up that great so i just used 2 stainless steel screws to hold it in. Not the prettiest thing but u can’t see it with the rear seat on. And it’s secure. My cover would blow off while i was transporting it.

By the way, Phil. If you buy this kit or one like it, make sure to get the exact size drill bit needed for the riv-nuts as specified.

One fraction size drill bit under and it will not go in the hole. One fraction size over and it will not tighten in the hole.

But correctly sized, I believe it will work well for you.

I bought the jack nuts from a local fastener store. and used a 1/4-20 hex head bolt and washers to "crimp" the jack uni into the Spartan body on the DS Kit Car I built.

Thanks, I didn't even think to check the local fastener store.
