Thanks for the response and this helps me understand better that the battery draw by the converter when the key is off should really be a non-issue as it is very low when compared to the normal discharge rate of the batteries and is comparable to other electronics onboard.

My question really is the opposite. What is the draw from my batteries when the converter IS powered up and I am driving around the golf course during the day not using any 12v loads? Is it hardly anything? Or yes, it's definitely noticeable because you are wasting a lot of energy as heat with it's inefficiency converting from 48v to 12v constantly and that instead of getting 20 miles or so on a normal full charge it will be less. How much less we can't say because the manufacturer won't give us the information....therefore unplug the darn thing if you have no immediate use for 12 volts.

I would like to say it's probably not more than a few amp hrs during an entire regular day's use so it can be ignored. But I don't know....
