A 300A controller is considered a stock replacement. You will not notice any difference except in speed because there is no longer a governor on the motor speed. You will still slow down on hills. HP is whats needed.

Not completely Walt. It is a higher amp over stock and even higher with a peak of 350 amps. The 1510a was only 250a (and that was a bit of a stretch). I have two (2) XCT300's in service and they make a substantial difference in throttle response when taking off with 4 people and when hitting hills in the hood. Generally speaking, HP relates to speed and torque relates to power. Your amperage will give you power (force), but as your are eluding to, you have to have the HP to get you where you wanna go...

I really prefer a 500a and tune it down for stock motors as it is not much more, it includes the fan, and provides growth down the road; but just as in the two I mentioned, those were for older couples who wanted minimal cost for a failed OEM controller or there was just never a possibility of upgrading so no sense in spending the money for something they would never do....

The main reason the XCT300 is noted as an OEM replacement is you can still run it with factory cables and solenoid.

The 300 will be a nice difference over stock. It will work with all factory electronics and can be programmed for your cart prior to shipment. If you're interested in spending a little more money on the 400, it's more than just a controller that you're going to need to buy. To correctly use the 400 on your cart, you need to install a heavy duty solenoid and upgrade all of your power cables to a minimum of 4 gauge. It simply draws too much power for the OEM wires. The 300 will be fine with the factory cables and solenoid for normal usage.
