2008 Precedent steering box replacement minor issues
Hey guys,
Truly puzzled here. Car is an '08 precedent, all stock. Last night I installed a new steering box (this one - oops, can't post links yet - you can search Amazon for Red Hawk Steering box to see the one I got.) Install went fine, but in my concentration did not notice that the flat part of the spline where the box meets the steering yoke is pointed out toward the front of the cart, whereas my old one, the flat part is pointed towards the inside of the cart. Basically, my steering wheel is upside down. Before I tear it all back down to return, did I miss an adjustment somewhere or is this something I can correct myself? It seems like most of the steering fits one way. What stinks is that the cart now drives beautifully! Thanks!! |

EDIT - nevermind! I found the centering the wheel thread and got it close enough. Thanks!

I had nothing else going on, so I got a little OCD about it - got the alignment perfect (by my tape-on-the-floor/eyeball measurements), readjusted the camber and the wheel is now perfect and the cart tracks straight. Just waiting on my tie rod ends!

I am doing a total strip down of a gas cart and turning it into a lithium battery powered cart. In my excitement during the tear down, I just took the tie rod ends off. I knew I was replacing them. The dumb thing I did, or in this case did not do, was make a note of how many turns each tie rod needed to come off. This caused me more time and patience to get things adjusted. Don't do like I did... |
