It's not necessary Murph. Would it help? Of course it would.

John I want to pat you on the back for not letting us get to you. Way to be a good sport. You are the first new guy that has taken well to our jokes! You will fit in perfectly around here!

I too am looking for a 36v motor.

From my understanding the 48v series cart is the only cart you can change just the motor to a 36 v motor. The regen carts you need to change a lot more parts. Motor,comtroller,f/r switch and wiring. If not please let me know, I have a regen cart to upgrade.

Regen carts have a toggle/push button for an f&r. You don't change that. Controller and cables is all you need to change. Regen cart is a lot easier and cheaper to make go fast than a series cart

How much !? you can't just leave the guy hanging! You suggest he re-drill to re-time to speed up his motor. He will be need some very specific information to do this upon your recommendation.

He is ready to drill, he needs to know where and why.

the photo shows the mod... there is no set-in-stone way to do it. on mine, the factory holes are filled with jb weld, the other 2 holes are for retarding the timing. a few degrees forward is all thats needed to safely gain a MPH or two.

watch the first 1:05 to see the results of adjusting timing. i'll try to explain the why if anyone (other than scottyb ) really wants to know.
