Default Charger issue

i have a powerdrive 2 48 volt charger that im having issues with. its going on a 2006 clubcar turf 1 work cart. i put new batteries in the cart and the charger hasnt worked since. if i use another charger it works fine, so the cart is wired right. what happens is i plug the charger into cart, it hums and needle goes in the negative, below 0 and trips the breaker on charger. i have replaced the rectifier thing that has 4 wires going to it, its loacated on back of charger mounted to the heatshrink i believe. thats it so far. any help is apprecitated

ok guys i feel stupid, i got to work this morning with fresh mind and was questioning the way i wired the rectifier up. i was looking and seen the amp meter was dc and the wire that runs to the front plug was dc. so of course i had one wrong. i wanna say thanks for all the views and this is a great site for information. i hope to be a avid visitor since im a golf course mechanic. have a great weekend...
