Default Smoother ride

How can I make my Yamaha Drive ride smoother? I have lift and tires on it but everything else is stock. It is a very bumpy ride and looking for a better smoother ride. Any and all input is appreciated. Thank you.

What psi are your tires inflated at?

Might try airing down tires and see if it helps

The Drive is a well built cart, but most of the cart weight (engine, seating and cargo) is from the center of the cart to the rear. When rear seating is added it really makes the front end much lighter, this is when front tire pressure can make a big difference. The 23” Duro Desert X-Country I use is rated for 20psi max and when we are going to carry four adult passengers I will set the rear at 20psi and 15psi in the front. What you will find out is that there is a balance between softer ride and safe handling, so experiment with the tire pressures and see what works for you. Good Luck.

Response to Mike Mac

Mike, I just purchased a 2017 Yamaha Drive2 EFI PTV. The manual states tire pressure should be 18 PSI. The tires (205/65-10) [20.5 X 8] are Loadstar B 4PR and state max pressure 35PSI. The pressure in the tires (as delivered yesterday) is 24 PSI. To me, it doesn't even appear that the inner or outer inch of the tread is even touching my garage floor. And the cart (test drove it yesterday) seemed to bounce around (my wife and I were bouncing left and right on our seats over bumps and around curves). I've read about using chalk so I'll pick some up later today, but do you have a recommendation as to whether I should initially follow the manual (18 PSI), the tire itself (MAX 35 PSI), or the pressure currently in the tires (as delivered) 24 PSI? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bob, I had no business responding to a thread about a car this new. I've never seen one that new!! maybe 18 psi works in grass!!?

That being said, I would drop air pressure down to maybe 12 pounds or so rear and 10 in front. That's what I run in my off road tires on asphalt!! You don't care about tire wear at this point!! I do know golf cart tires are a very hard compound, and ride hard by nature!! I'd also check tow- in!!

I do know putting a lift and larger tires on will improve ride immensely, and you can probably sell that to the wife easily!!

Good luck, and maybe the techs will respond here!!

I'm running 6 lbs. in mine and they seems to work just fine. They are 4 ply and I'm not burning up the hi-ways though.
