My introduction, and Help me please, and pics of my new ride
First off I am new here so, hey everyone. I have a problem with my first cart. I got a 08 club car ds Monday and disassembled it, painted it camo, lifted it 6 inches and put 22 inch tires on it. Well today as I was finishing up the install of the lift and tires I figured I would check all of my battery connections and one of my batteries had a loose connection so I went to tighten it and the nut would go down far enough to tighten so I decided I would take the nut off so I could clean the post. Well when I went to back the nut off, the whole freakin stud broke off flush with the top of the lead and now I don't have anything to connect my wire to. Would it be safe to cut the head off of a 1/4" 20tpi stainless bolt to make a new stud and drill about 1/4" to 3/8" into the lead on top of the battery and tap the hole and screw the new stud in? Or am I screwed and I have to buy a new battery? The battery is a 12 volt U.S. battery and it is the negative post. Thanks for the help and here are some pics of my build.i would have taken a better pic outside but I didn't feel like pushing after the battery mishap. I still have to mount my fender flares and I am still waiting on my rear folding seat to arrive.
Well I was gonna post some pics but I haven't been a member for long enough. |

Pics did not come through. Try this link for your terminal repair:

Thanks for that link. That is exactly what I was wanting to do. I didn't post pictures because you have to be a member for 7 days before you can post pics from photobucket. I only have 2 days left so I will post some pics in this thread when my time is up.

Depending on the battery, if it's like the trojan in the link, you can use a marine terminal. It will fit over the round post. Tighten it up and connect the battery cable to the stud on new terminal. Way easier and safer. If the lead terminal is flat, then you can drill and tap it. You can also use a short self tapping screw with a washer. make sure to have the battery cable in position before you drive the self tapper in though....

Monday afternoon when I got home with it. Thursday night. I have been at work ever since and I haven't even gotten to give it a test drive yet. |
