Default Finally my 24x32 pole barn project has begun!

Yes, it's true. After what seems as a lifetime I am finally putting foot down and biting the bullet at the same time. It's officially begun!

When considering building a pole barn I had three concerns:

1.) Who will build it? Has to be someone who I trust and who will do it right the first time. I think I found that guy.

2.) Has to be the right size. My neighbor has a 24x46, and it's a really nice building. However, I would go wider if I could, and keep it shorter. But....as it turns out, the cost of making it wider is just prohibitive. 24x32 is long enough to fit my truck, and wide enough to fit two projects side by side should I need the room.

3.) Have to have the equipment, right? I mean, just because the building is done, doesn't mean the project is done. There's lots of finish work to do, including a 250 foot driveway....UGH! So I am adding this machine to my arsenal, guess it will take up some room in the barn. Anyone ever own one of these?

The barn pic is pretty much what I will have after it's done, although I will choose a grey roof and white trim. Oh yeah, 11.5 foot sidewalls.

Can't beat a nice shop! I have one 24x20. Only a regular door right now so, no putting projects inside. I would love to have a 30x60 with two roll up doors! Keep us posted.

Yeah, Slo--you'll like that. I had a 30'x40' pole building put up in 2010. I don't think I could be without it. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/garag...ew-garage.html

Not a bad size. I have a garage about that size and love it, even though as said, it's never big enough.

Having a tractor with front end loader is great. Helps with lots of things you'd never think of. One thing that makes it even better is that I have a set of forks I can change the bucket out for and use those even more than the bucket at times.

For storing the tractor you could come off the side with a lean to type roof and it wouldn't cost much to add that plus it will keep it dry and secure as well. And, if you went the entire length with this side roof you'd have room to also store projects/carts and you could add shelves to the outer wall of the garage for parts. "Just saying!" It would also give you a place to set up a nice compressor without the noise being in the garage itself.

I'm also lucky to have a gravel mine close and a friend with a dump truck that will haul it for me. Makes getting a drive fixed or a new area graveled over much nicer and easier. (Cheaper too)

A concrete floor is nice but even a gravel floor works nice in a shed and is much cheaper than concrete, which can be a major part of the cost of a garage.

I've never owned case equipment but sold a lot of it at auctions I've worked and they make good equipment. The size of that one is nice for a small farm type setting and will prove very useful to you. I never thought I'd need a tractor but am now glad I have one and can never see myself without one. Mine is a Yanmar 28hp with 4 wheel drive. It has proven to be even more useful with the 4 wheel drive on the terrain I work and live on.

Congrats on finally getting started on the project.

Mine has a 10x24 carport on the end. I have 3 carts and a riding mower under it now.

Yeah I would have loved a 30x40, but just don't have the funds right now. This is pushing the limits, especially once you add the driveway and concrete, extra dirt for around the sides, and a french drain next to the building.

It's going to be a "finish as I go" kind of project. I see myself adding to it every year. Prob do the interior walls next year, insulation the next, yada yada yada! LOL

Truck isn't getting parked in there, it's just for all my "stuff" and my "projects".

Insulation......... don't need no dang insulation!

Actually adding insulation after the fact can be a real pain in the rear. I don't have insulation in mine. I just use a torpedo heater when I want to work in there. Heats it up pretty quickly to T-shirt temps.

It would be nice to be able too insulate and keep it warm and cool but who can afford the costs for that?
