shuts down choke to start
Okay (Lockman :)) and anyone else that might talk to me LOL. Recently changed carbs to a new one BECAUSE I had issues with my cart running (once) it quit, I was able to start using the choke I could hold the choke it would start and move (not great) but after awhile would blow oil smoke, let off the choke would start and run for a bit and start and die in a bit, choke it for a bit blow smoke, let off choke and THEN ran correct for say 15 mins then started all over again, got it to the trailer, got it home daughter ran it a full week no issues. Today I put equipment on a new job for this week took the cart AND it started the same thing again, got it back to the shop now, originally thought it was a stuck vale no real reason just a guess then someone mentioned a carb issue and since I had a new one I used it, my kid had no issues for a week so I thought it was right about the carb but now obiviously not it., anyone have any ideas its A NEW fe350 MAYBE 100 HRS NOW, NEW CARB AND 2 OIL CHANGES new fuel pump, new lines, new coil,2new throttle cables,n filters, fuel pump etc........

Re: shuts down choke to start
Hi Eric!
I saw your other thread a couple weeks ago about this same problem, and I didn't know how to respond. What's worse? is that it dies on you, and it didn't on your daughter! But, I'll tell you what my common sense tells me... Anytime you have to use the choke to keep it running tells me that you have an intake system air leak! (It's a MUST for FE engines to have a sealed intake system for them to run correctly!) ~Open the airbox lid, and check that the air filter is seated properly, confirm that both the hook tabs on the back of the lid are in their loops, then securely snap the airbox lid closed, (it's crucial that the lid sits square on the box, and it's sealed tight!) ~Next would be to check the intake tube for cracks! (it's common for a crack to start at a rib where it bends to the carb.) The easiest way to test for air leaks in the system, or cracks in the tube is to run it part throttle in maintenance mode, and spray carb cleaner (others use Ether) all over the airbox, intake tube, and carburetor while it's running and see if the RPM's change, If the RPM's change, you've found an intake leak! If the RPM's don't change? .... |

Re: shuts down choke to start
I just read another thread with a similar problem... less using the choke.
If I remember correctly, you bypassed all of your microswitches, Could it be a loose connection? http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-c...ml#post1277512 |

Re: shuts down choke to start
Sorry it took me so long to get back, I'll look into the air leak thing, it happened briefly on site this morning, I brought it home this evening and am going out and purchase a ranger tonight. We will be on this new site about 9 months and its 4000+ acres so I need something a little more dependable plus this site is very wet. I'm gonna solve this problem sooner or later LOL

Re: shuts down choke to start
The ACR is an Automatic Compression Release, I know very little about them,
I'll read up on it in my 350 manual, but it won't be until this afternoon! |

Re: shuts down choke to start
My FE350 manual mentions it in 4 different places, but no troubleshooting tips...
BUT... The Engine/Drivetrain manual does! It seems that the ACR is built into the cam, and the only serviceable part on the ACR is the return spring, Otherwise... you have to replace the cam! The pdf is too large to add as an attachment... Kinda weird because I saved it from BGW. PM sent |
