Low Profile Tire
I would like to mount 205/30x12 low profile tires and wheels on my 2006 Club Car Precedent with out a lift kit. Will this help or hurt the ride on packed gravel roads. My justification is that the thicker sidewall will help the ride ? ?
I would like to get ordered and installed before the July 4 weekend... |

Re: Low Profile Tire
Low profile tires on a golf cart??? LOL IMHO the only place low profile tires make sense in on a race track. Any place else you may encounter rough or uneven road they are just stupid. bad ride, easy to damage tires or wheels & suspension. in nearly every case, low profile tires show ignorance to performance requirements.

Re: Low Profile Tire
I think they look great on no-lifted carts. They do have less "give" than thicker tires, but at the slow speeds golf carts go I didnt notice any ride difference at all. Dont worry too much about dammage to the tire or rims..carts are much too slow and light for much of that to happen, unless you hit a boulder or open manhole. No dammage to suspension either. The little stock tires dont have all that much give in them either. We have traveled down some pretty rough roads and hit a few deep pot holes and no dammage to anything. And the cart corners better on pavement, less tire roll I think. And the look great! Carts dont always have to have big balloon tires to look good. Put them on and ride!
As far as "race tracks" and "performance requirements", remember its just a golf cart. Build it the way YOU want it to look. |

Re: Low Profile Tire
Well, I admit, some of it is personal preference, I just think they look dumb. Performance, does not always have to do with speed, ride & durability are also factors of performance. Both of which are not as good on a low profile tire. However, to back my argument about real performance tires, take a look at NASCAR tires on the track. you will not find a low profile tire. Infact, I don't believe you will find any truly low profile tires on any race type vehicles. Indy cars have lower profile tires, but, nothing like what some fools are putting on street vehicles these days. So, when it comes to racing & winning the $$$, the money is not behind low profile tires. If you think they look good that's fine, but, when you see someone look and snicker, you will know why.
Yea, I just have a thing against low profile tires. Or anything else that some industry is trying to push as cool when it's just crap. |

Re: Low Profile Tire
I will remember your advise if I ever run my 10mph cart in Nascar for cash. I dont see them running big atv tires either. Maybe the golf cart industry is pushing atv tires? These are not indy or nascar vehicles, just golf carts, most are more show than go, so why would it matter running performance wheels and tires? Are you running the same tires and rims as an indy car? Or are you running the same as nascar? If you are not, I would like to know why.. Do you run atv tires? Why? I dont see indy or nascar running those..So why do you run them? Because thats what you like, right? But calling low profile tires "stupid" and saying "low profile tires show ignorance to performance requirements" comes off as harsh to me. We are, after all, talking about golf carts arent we? Golf carts are not exactly high performance race cars the last time I checked.. As for atv tires? I will use your words to describe them.."If you think they look good that's fine, but, when you see someone look and snicker, you will know why"...Sounds kind of angsty does it not?
I would never call you "ignorant" or "stupid" for choosing to make your cart look the way you want, even if I thought it was "ignorant" or "stupid". Sometimes if you dont have anything nice or helpful to say to someone, its better to say nothing at all. I do understand that it is just your opinion..but, you know what they say about opinions... |

Re: Low Profile Tire
I am a nascar fan and I don't see them running mud tires or lift kits; they want the cars low to the ground. In fact, looking at the carts in the background at the track used to transport some of the drivers back and forth, I don't recall seeing a lifted buggie. Here at our house we have one of each and mine is the low one.
